A historic Médoc wine-growing village, the village of Bages has been entirely renovated since the year 2000 by Jean-Michel Cazes, a wine grower and maker and leading figure in the Bordeaux wine area. The village of Bages near Pauillac is today a characterful place with a laid-back way of life.
The Café Lavinalin in Desquet Square in the centre of the village, is named after Berthe Lavinal, the grandmother of Jean-Michel Cazes. His second grandmother, Andréa, has also given her name to another key business in the village: Le Comptoir d’Andréa, a delicatessen stocking many Médoc and Gironde specialities.
Steeped in history and childhood memories, the village of Bages is an ideal place to relax, set amid vines, far from the bustle of urban life. Many original wine-themed activities will be on offer, such as a bike ride to explore the wine area. Take full advantage of everything this very characteristic Médoc way of life has to offer.

Arrive at the end of the morning at the Relais & Châteaux hotel in Cordeillan-Bages, a luxury establishment set in a beautiful 17th century charterhouse. Lunch will be served in the gourmet restaurant of your hotel, awarded one star in the 2018 Michelin Guide.
The afternoon is reserved for a private tour of a château producing a Grand Cru Classé 1855 wine and developing biodynamic vine cultivation. Château vintage wine tasting is available.
Spend the rest of the afternoon relaxing beside your hotel swimming pool. When evening comes, dine in the gourmet restaurant of your hotel. Your accommodation will be a double room at the Relais & Châteaux in Cordeillan-Bages.
Enjoy a buffet breakfast in your hotel. In the morning, after hiring bikes, head for the vines and a beautiful ride in the heart of nature.
For lunch, go to the Café Lavinal, an authentic, convivial brasserie in the village of Bages offering generous cuisine. Leave in the afternoon to visit a second château producing a Grand Cru Classé 1855 wine. This private tour will be followed by tasting of two wines.
We suggest relaxing with a game of pétanque (a type of French bowling) to finish your day. In the evening, let the magic begin at the chef’s table where a gourmet dinner will be served. Spend the night in a double room at the Relais & Châteaux hotel in Cordeillan-Bages.
